The Junior Squad at Swarkestone sailing club has grown dramatically in the last few years. It is not unusual to come down on a summer’s day and see 30 or more junior sailors on the water. We welcome new sailors aged between 5 and 18.
The youngest beginners start in the Optimist dinghy of which the club owns four and hires another six, sailors can then choose to progress into one of the 16 club toppers, which are rigged to suit a variety of ages, or a Pico, a beginner double handed boat.
We hold two week long courses, the first for complete beginners and the second for competent sailors. We open the entry page in late May, but please get in
touch if you have any questions in the meantime.

This year we have 5 weekends. The first is a racing regatta, the rest are training events. Saturday will be 10-4, Sunday 9:30-1, with a Burley trophy to follow after. Places are limited.
