...it is a good idea to make sure you are wearing old clothes, especially shoes, incase they get wet, a wetsuit would be ideal if you have one but don’t worry if not. Bring a waterproof jacket with you if you have one. Please don’t wear jeans as they take ages to dry. Also, don’t wear Wellington boots as they fall off if they get full of water. Make sure you brings spare clothes to change after sailing and a towel.
...Junior Squad is open to everyone aged 6-18, both able-bodied and disabled children, from beginner onwards.
Sessions will begin at 9:30 am, please be changed by this time. You will be provided with a life jacket, and will meet your instructor. The cost of Junior Squad is £5 and there is an additional £3 for boat hire. Parents need to remain on site. During the day you will take part in a variety of activities, working through sections of the RYA sailing schemes for children. Snacks will be provided and there is an opportunity to purchase lunch at the club.
Sessions run throughout the year, with a week long training course in the summer. If you are keen to continue sailing it is advisable to buy a wetsuit, there are often some for sale at the club or they can be bought from supermarkets. We have a wide variety of junior boats to use, however if you wish to purchase your own, prices often start at a couple of hundred pounds, depending on the age and type of boat.
